Rehearsing Regrets

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

“For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.”  2 Corinthians 7:10

When one’s heart is in bondage to sin; that person’s self – blame turns to shame. All over this world, people have believed the lies of Satan and are bound up; body, mind and spirit, by a mountain of regret.  Regret willingly takes and holds captive it’s hostages. For some; it’s been a life time.

If they only knew, Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost and that “there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”  Why do we hold onto our regrets for so long?

Rehearsing regrets; all those “if onlys”, adds bigger doses of regret to the already existing ones.  Stop rehearsing them!  It accomplishes nothing but anxiety that leads to deep, dark depression. You need to release your regrets to Jesus. He takes our sins from us and “removes them as far as the east is from the west and remembers it no more.”

He died for our sins and regrets and by His stripes we are healed.  We can’t undo our regrets but we can heal from them. Don’t go back and pick them up again.  They are in God’s sea of forgetfulness.  He’s forgiven you; so forgive yourself and move on.  God has great plans for you, to give you a future and a hope.  He will use the pain of your past, to help others to overcome their own regrets.

Godly sorrow is not to be regretted.  Release all other regrets into the hands of a loving God; who longs to take what Satan meant for evil and turn it out for your good and His glory.

Prayer in Motion

Jesus, I release my regrets into Your hands.  You are for me and not against me.  Forgive me for condemning myself, when there is no condemnation in You.  Thank You Jesus.  It’s in Your Name I pray.  Amen!
