As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” Acts 9:3-4
On the way to Damascus, Saul had a divine encounter. His sole purpose was to capture and persecute Christians. All of a sudden, Jesus, appeared right in front of him. Clothed in blinding light, the Son of God called Saul’s name. “Saul, Saul why are you persecuting me?”
Of course Saul immediately fell to his knees in humility and asked, “Who are you Lord, and what do you want me to do?”‘ Viable questions that Jesus quickly answered, “I am Jesus and I want you to go into the city and you will be told what to do when you get there.” His eyes were opened momentarily to see no one with him and then he was blinded for three days. This was a game changer for Saul. This man was no dummy. He knew he had just encountered the True and Living God, because he called Him LORD.
Do you suppose Jesus has ever intervened while you were on your way; to say or do something mean and hurtful, to the one at the other end of your pre-determined destination? It’s known as divine intervention and I would be willing to guess; your answer would be a resounding YES! God specializes in divine intervention, for your good and His glory. On the way to your pre-determined destination; ask the Lord Jesus, what you need to do, when you get there.
God changed Saul’s name to Paul and this apostle went on to write the majority of the New Testament. He withstood all kinds of persecution over the course of his life. Paul counted it an honor to suffer for the cause of the One he had met on the way; to destroy the very ones Christ came to save.
Prayer in Motion:
Lord, I pray for Your divine intervention any time, I am on the way, to do my will and not Yours. I ask this in the strong Name of Jesus and for His sake alone. Amen
