The Best Gift

And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped Him.  Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.”  Luke 2:11

It’s all about the gift! Right? The purchaser takes time out of his or her schedule to hunt for it, pay the required price, wrap it up and bring it to the benefactor. It must be just the right size, the right color, the right toy or thing desired by the receiver.  We stress so much about having just the right thing.

The Bible tells us, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” The purpose of giving gifts is to pour out a blessing on the receiver.

As the wise men came into the place of Jesus birth, they fell down to worship Him. They were filled with awe and exceeding great joy as they knelt before the precious Christ child. They were in the presence of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. As they opened their treasures, they offered Him the most valuable gifts they had to offer, gifts fit for a king; gold, a precious metal, frankincense as perfume and myrrh as anointing oil. Christ was honored and blessed by these amazing gifts.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.” What are you giving this year? To whom are you giving those precious gifts? Are your presents all wrapped and under the tree. Have you checked your list and checked it twice? You wouldn’t want to come up short.

What gift do you have to offer to the Person whose birthday we are celebrating? Is it a gift that involves sacrifice? He longs to receive your gifts as a sweet smelling fragrance unto Himself.

According to John 3:16; Christ came into this world to offer you the free gift of eternal life. There has never been nor will there ever be a greater gift. Will you receive this best gift ever? His presence in your life, outweighs any present you could ever receive. If you do not know Him as your Lord and Savior, I pray this will be the day of your salvation.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord, may I give gifts that are honoring and pleasing to You. May I give gifts to my family and friends that will bless them and honor them. Most of all may I focus on giving gifts that bring blessing to my Jesus. In HIs precious Name I pray. Amen
