Completed

“So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.”  Luke 2:6

Have you completed your Christmas shopping, your Christmas mailings, your decorating?  Those are all important to complete. However, each one is an earthly task; with little to no lasting implications.

Moms know exactly how Mary was feeling as her days were completed for the birth of this child Jesus. Contractions began in Mary’s body and on that God ordained day, our Savior was born. As we look ahead to the cross, we hear Jesus saying, “It is finished.” Completed was the work for which our Savior came!

There are several Biblical passages that speak of the completed work of Christ and all those who are martyred for His honor and glory.  One such passage is found in Revelation 6:9-11.  Those souls who have been slain; are asking God, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth? Then a white robe was given to each of them, and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.”

Precious one, only God knows when that last martyr’s life will be taken.  Pray, pray, pray for the persecuted church.  As we still enjoy our freedom of worship, our Christmas festivities; there are those who are being tortured for their faith. Ask God to help them persevere until the end.  When their lives are completed, they will be delivered straight into the arms of their Deliverer!

Prayer in Motion:

Jesus, during this Christmas season, I take time out, to stop and pray for the persecuted Christians.  They too; are celebrating Christmas in their hearts, just not with the same freedom I get to enjoy.  Oh God, even though they cannot enjoy Christmas presents, I pray You will powerfully, manifest Your Presence to them until their lives on earth are completed.  I pray this in the strong and powerful Name of Jesus. Amen.
