To Grieve God's Spirit

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Devotion:  Ephesians 4:30

I remember a day when I knew I had wounded the Spirit of the Living God.  This third person of the Trinity is very sensitive.  I was driving my car and I had made the statement; I would die for (said person); if that person would only come back to Christ. Just as clear as a bell; I heard the Spirit of Jesus say:

                                                                                  “I already did that.”

If I hadn’t been driving; I would have fallen on my face.  For crying out loud; what difference would my dying make, for this person’s restoration?  NONE! The price has already been paid. It’s my part to testify of the grace of God and to pray; but the work of salvation has already been done through the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.  The work was finished on Calvary.

I immediately began to weep and ask the Lord to forgive me.  I promised Him I would never make that statement again.  Who am I?  Who is Jesus Christ?  He is the only begotten Son of God.  He is the way, the truth and the life and no man comes to the Father but by Him.  There is no one on earth or in heaven by which men may be saved or kept.

Have you ever said or done something and immediately; the Holy Spirit convicts you to the core of your being?  Thank God for leaving you with HIs Spirit to convict you of your sin.

Listen for His voice.  Stay tuned into His voice by talking with Him regularly.  Stay in His Word.  Pray His Word over every person and every situation.

Prayer in Motion:

Holy Spirit, You are welcome here, right here, right now.  Come flood my heart with Your Spirit.  Please forgive me for all the times I have grieved Your heart.  Thank You for always providing comfort, peace and forgiveness.  I love you Lord.  It’s in Your Name I pray.  Amen
