“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance” (James 1:2-3)
Really James!?! You want me to consider it pure joy in my trials!?! This scripture is so often hard for me to get through my head. James reminds us that it is not if, but when we face trials we should consider it pure joy.
Today Satan is strong. He fills my mind with doubt, insecurities, and past failures. He is reminding me today of all the many trials and uphill battles that I face. I know that God is stronger than the lies that enter my mind. I don’t have to face today alone. I serve a mighty God. This is pure joy.
It is times like today that I turn to my godly friends and ask for them to intercede on my behalf. I am so thankful for a group of women that I know will pray for my strength and pray for the Holy Spirit to intercede. It is comforting to know that God has surrounded me with women who love the Lord with all their hearts and therefore love me. God has strategically placed every person in my life at this moment for His purpose. This is pure joy.
I seem to focus so much on the first part of this scripture that I forget about what comes after the comma. “Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.” Just wow. I don’t know about you ladies, but I want to persevere. I want to know that I was so focused on my relationship with Christ that I persevered through the trials of this life. This is pure joy.
I am a broken, fallen, hot mess of a woman. Really, we all are. But together we can face trails of many kinds, have our faith tested, and persevere through the power of the Holy Spirit. THIS IS PURE JOY!
