On Star

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

“When they saw the star they rejoiced with exceedingly great job.” Matthew 5:10

Ever feel like you need a star to guide you?  I found myself driving home in the fog and drizzle of a dark and dreary night. All of a sudden; right inside a curve, I ran off the road and slashed my tire.  Driving slowly, I pulled back up on to the pavement and looked for a place to pull off the road.  As traffic built up behind me; I finally found a dirt road upon which to pull my limping car.

Upon further examination, clearly my tire was punctured through in the shape of an L.  Did that stand for Libby or lost?  I have zero sense of direction; but for once, I was not lost.   Dialing OnStar; a woman named Asia asked; “Mrs. Williams, how may I assist you today?”  I said, “I have a flat tire.”  She asked, “Are you in a safe place?”  I replied, “I’m off the road.”  Lots of cars were whizzing by me in the pitch black dark, so I wasn’t certain if I was safe or not.

No Good Samaritans out tonight, I thought privately.  Asia kept me on the line for about five minutes.  Asia said, “Mrs. Williams, I can have someone there in twenty eight to forty eight minutes.” In my head; I could hear the clock ticking with background music on the television show “Jeopardy”.  Forty-eight minutes in the dark can seem like a long time.

I called my husband to come out and wait with me.  I took his car to leave and go to the bathroom.  By the time I returned; he had found a flash light and was changing the tire himself.  OnStar did not deliver in their said time frame. My husband was my star that night. He always comes to my rescue.

The wisemen who were searching for the Christ Child followed the Star created just for them.  Their star was clearly on. It took a long time to travel to see the Christ Child.  The star guided them to their destination safely and soundly.

One never knows what’s around the corner.  We all need a star to guide us.  Jesus Christ is the Star who waits to lead us and guide us through the journey of life.  He does not slumber nor sleep.  He hears you when you call and He always comes to your rescue.

Prayer in Motion:

God thank You for taking such good care of me.  Thank You for always being my Star and taking such good care of this undeserving child.  You are so precious to me and I give thanks for all the great and mighty things you have done and are doing for me.  I love You Lord.  In Jesus Name I offer up this prayer. Amen!
