Getting Out the Door

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

There are various reasons couples have a hard time getting out the door.  One of their children has thrown up all over his or her clean outfit.  The dog runs out the opened door and refuses to come back.  One family member has just spilled the whole gallon of milk.  You get the idea.

My husband and I have a difficult time getting out the door!  One of us plans to be on time.  The other allows time to escape; until the time for departure has come and GONE.  Then we are late to our event.  One of us use to jokingly declare, “He will be late to his own wedding.”

This reminds me of the parable of the ten virgins.  Five were on time and five were too late for their own wedding celebration. These young ladies slumbered and slept; forgetting their bridegroom was on his way. The unprepared virgins failed to be prepared; with the needed oil, to light their lamps. They asked to borrow oil from the prepared virgins but the wiser women said; “No, we cannot; you need to go buy it for yourself.”  In distress, the late damsels cried out to their bridegroom, “Lord, please open the door to us.”  The Lord replied the saddest words ever spoken. “I do not know you.”

Jesus said in John 10:9

“I am the door.  If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved,…”

Jesus wants no one to perish without Him.  It is His will for “all to come to repentance.”  He created every human being to have fellowship with Him, NOW and throughout eternity.  This is one decision we must take seriously.  If you do not know the Lord Jesus as your Savior, I beg you … do not delay.  Invite Him into your heart today.  He longingly waits to hear you pray a prayer like this from your heart:

“Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and need a Savior.  Please forgive me of my sin.  I willingly open the door of my heart and ask You to come in and dwell there.  I believe You died on the cross for my sin.  You were buried and three days later resurrected.  You sealed us with Your Holy Spirit so that we would not be left comfortless.”

Jesus came to give us life and life abundant; while we live on this earth. On the day of your home going, you will meet your Bridegroom Jesus, face to face and spend eternity with Him forever and ever, in heaven. The door is open and the Savior is waiting for you.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord, I pray You will draw all men to Yourself.  The time is now. Today is the day of salvation.  In Jesus Name. Amen
