Doctrine Matters

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

“Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.”  1 Timothy 4:13

Doctrine is important.  Sound doctrine is imperative to the Christian believer.  Why?  Doctrine is fundamental to our Christian duty.  To fulfill our Christian duty; should be our greatest passion.  We actually desire to obey the teachings of Christ.  His great love for us regenerates our heart to love Him; with all of our heart, mind, and strength.

Let’s look at the definition of doctrine.  Webster”s Dictionary says; “It’s a principle or position that we have been taught.”  We must be sure of our doctrine.  Why?  Times of testing will come. As you walk through the trials of life; sound doctrine anchors your soul, to the truth of God’s Word.

Doctrine; or sound teaching keeps us from falling apart, when our world comes crashing in.

If our doctrines are anchored to the truth of God’s Word; we are anchored to the One who is the Word.  According to John 1:1..“the Word was with God and the Word was God.”  John 1:14 tells us; “and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…”

The only begotten Son of God became flesh and dwelt among us.  He is God Incarnate, fully God and fully man.  You see; there are religions that say Jesus was just a great teacher, a god; instead of, the One and only True and Living God.  That one statement is a game changer.  It’s the difference between being a Christian and not.

                                                                                   Doctrine matters!

2 Timothy 4:3-4 tells us:

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

My precious reader; the time has come, when many do not endure sound doctrine…Their ears are itching to hear what they want to hear.  They have heaped up for themselves teachers who teach doctrine that tickles their ears.  They have turned their ears away from the truth of God’s Word and have believed a lie or a fable.  They have traded sound doctrine for unsound doctrine.

Sound doctrine will give you a sound mind, when the rest of the world is unstable.

Prayer in Motion:

Oh God; I cry out to You, Jehovah God, the One and only; True and Living God. Wake up those who have believed unsound doctrine. Jesus I beg You to reveal the hidden things, to those who have believed the lies of the enemy, before it’s too late.  In Christ Name I offer up this prayer.  Amen
