Detour

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

        “But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.”  Job 23:10

Detours can be taken on a steady, straight path or they can be very steep and precarious.  Ordinarily, you have no idea what you will see or experience on a detour.  You take a chance when you take a detour.  The view may be glorious or it may be less than beautiful.

Detours can be chosen or forced.  You are just going along; living your life and all of a sudden there is a big “ole” sign that says; “Detour.”  You have no choice but to go the route chosen for you.  This detour is forced and will be life altering…

                        Life altering for the better –  OR – life altering for the worse.

No warning.  No time to prepare or plan.  Just DETOUR in bold black letters.

Some detours are the ones we chose outside of God’s will. They look attractive.  However; they provide a temporary solution that doesn’t bring the best resolution.  It seems to give you some breathing room, but it is not the one God had planned.  God can use even those detours to teach us and train us in righteousness.  He can use what Satan meant for evil and turn it out for our good and His glory.

You make your decision how to respond to the detour whether it was forced or chosen.  God has a purpose for allowing the forced detours. Honestly;

                                            …A detour can bring deliverance…

deliverance from a past mistake; a present circumstance, or a future misdirection.

You may be struggling with a detour you are on right now. Whether chosen by you or by God; the rocks can be scary and steep.  You have no way of knowing if you will survive. Remember:

                                                            God is with you.

He promises  “He will accomplish what concerns you”.  He longs for you to be a victorious warrior and has provided all you have need of for every detour:

                                        His planned one or your unplanned one.

You know, it can be one in the same; not planned by you but orchestrated by Him.  Learn all you can while you are on every detour.  Ask Him to help you find the beauty in this “off the main road” experience.  Allow the Lord to use every detour to teach you and train you in His righteousness.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord of heaven and earth; You are the master planner of detours in my life.  Help me to trust You when the detour sign appears out of no where.  May I not be afraid because You are with me. In Jesus Name.  Amen
