But Thou Oh Lord

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. Psalm 3:3

God says we have not because we ask not or we ask with wrong motives.  David said, “How long oh Lord?”  For what are you praying?  Maybe it’s the salvation of a family member.  Possibly it’s a job for yourself or someone you love.  Maybe you are praying for a prodigal to return back to his or her first love.  You might be praying for healing for yourself or someone you know.

The demon of doubt began to pierce my soul.  “Many are those who rise up against you….But Thou oh Lord, are a shield for me; my glory and the lifter of my head.”  These lines from a popular Brooklyn Tabernacle song; came flooding through my head.  “Thank You Lord for the reminder;” I whispered back to Him.

God sees and knows right where you are.  He is training you to exhibit His attribute of patience, as you wait upon Him.  You don’t know how all of this is going to turn out;  however, your Sovereign Lord certainly knows.  Trust Him.

“Thou will keep in perfect peace; he whose mind is stayed on Thee.”  Sometimes I just “gotta” use the old Thees and Thous. For me; it’s only because I memorized much of the Word I have hidden in my heart, from the King James Version.  (I now read from lots of versions and love everyone of them, lest you think I am a KJV only person.)

Are you trusting God to be a shield for you?  Are you glorifying Him on earth as He is glorified in heaven?  Do you live to bring Him honor and glory and blessing?  To bring Him glory should be our highest goal.  That is the purpose for which He created you.

Prayer in Motion:

“But Thou Oh Lord, are a shield for me, the glory and the lifter of my head.”  I am blessed because of You.  I give You all the honor, glory and praise; because it all belongs to You. I need You every hour, most precious Lord.  I wait for You.  Your timing is perfect.  You are bigger than all my problems.  Thank You Jesus for being my shield, the glory and the lifter of my head.  I am blessed.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
