Beginning April 1 – Gathering Stones Along the Old Paths

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Are you ready for a new beginning? A clean slate? A do-over and a recharge? Have you been standing at a crossroad and wondering, “Which path do I take?

????????????????????????????????????

Have you been needing, more than ever, the rest for your soul that only God gives?

Then join me right here on April 1st! The MEMBERS of this site have been EXTREMELY patient and enduring as Rip and I have been finding our new bearings in a new state. We have not been posting to the members as faithfully as we desire because we have been, for the past year, on quite a journey in making Mississippi our home. And as he and I look back on this past year, it’s the stones of experience that we have gathered up as we have walked down the paths God has placed before us, that we want to share now with you, our members! These ‘stones of experience’ deal with some of the key areas of our faith in God and how that looks in our life day after day after day. Calling this journey a simple title –

“Gathering Stones Along the Old Paths”

path 3

As in this photo, some paths just aren’t walked upon very much and you can tell because they are worn down enough. They are still narrow, edgy, full of bumps and dips due more to the lack of travels on them. I have come to ask God, “I don’t want the road most traveled, but help me to walk on the road less traveled, because I know it will be a road with You.”

“…small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:14

We live, y’all, in a world that is changing rapidly in many ways – morally, ethically, relationally, politically and with so much change, it will appear as though it’s only going to get harder to remain on the “old paths” as Scripture calls it.

“Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is,
And walk in it;
Then you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ – Jeremiah 6:16 NKJV

path 1

In The Message Bible it says:

“Go stand at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for directions to the old road,
The tried-and-true road. Then take it.
Discover the right route for your souls.
But they said, ‘Nothing doing.
We aren’t going that way.’ – Jeremiah 6:16 TM

Well, the verb commands are these:

Stand + See + Ask + walk = Rest

In application, those verbs and the blessing that follows can be worded to say:

Live spiritually alert {stand} with God’s perspective {see} wanting and requesting His ways {ask} in order to obey {walk} = supernatural serenity and calm of your will {rest for your soul}

So, for the months of April – May, Rip and I want to encourage us all to do just that, just what Jeremiah 6:16 instructs, and not live out the end of the verse where the people’s choice was to go their own way.

So, let’s start right here April 1 – all you will need are 4 things:

Bible – pen – notebook – cell phone / camera

We are going to start documenting a journey with God that will not only be a legacy for our children, but it will be a journey worth documenting as we trace God’s hand {His activity} and His faithfulness {His character} in our life as we daily … gather stones along the old paths.
