2016 Benjamin Moore Color of the Year

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Ok ladies, the new year is coming and if you haven’t already noticed a growing trend in 2015 in paint colors, well, there is one – Simply White. All year we have noticed (especially through the new HGTV show, Fixer Upper, that WHITE is the choice for a more elegant and sophisticated look, OR for a more peaceful relaxed farmhouse feel.

Watch this video explain why Simply White is the 2016 Benjamin Moore color trend of the year.

Candice Olson is what I call and “educator decorator.” She doesn’t just SHOW you, she teaches you why these colors work with these, or why certain color schemes work best with woods and why particular colors should not be paired together. I really enjoy how she wants to educate her viewers, to empower them to have their own DIY projects at home and SUCCEED. Here are two of her videos that I wanted to share with you ….just incase this weekend you find a little time on your hands and want to paint a room! And the grey she shares is very close to what we just painted throughout our home – we used “Amazing Grey” ….very very close to Nimbus Grey.

Here she teaches how to blend rooms of different color –

Great advice here! It’s neat that you post this, because a few years ago, I looked up Candice Olson’s colors and found that she very often used Cloud White for trim and even cabinetry. It was A LOT of work, but my kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets and trim in my house is now Cloud White. It is a great color! I actually used the Advance paint also, at the time I discovered through a blog called YoungHouseLove. The Advance paint is wonderful!! Prior to trying this paint, I tried the best quality Valspar paint and had a very difficult time with it. Benjamin Moore’s Advance paint was a life saver. It is self-leveling. I used an enamel primer and a Purdy brush that specified it was for smooth finishes, and by God’s grace, it turned out well.

I’ve tried so many paints and Sherwin Williams is the only paint that gives me such a solid coat with only the 1st application. Sometimes I don’t need a 2nd coat, but I will check into the Advance paints, too.
