Two are Better

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

“Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. ” Ecclesiastes 4:9

Recently, I had the privilege to help my precious friend Bonnie. When I asked her what she wanted for her birthday; she said, “Come help me clean out my kitchen cabinets.”  Since one of my spiritual gifts is the gift of helps; I was thrilled to get to spend times with one of my best forever friends.

I love to talk and listen.  Bonnie loves to listen and talk.  We are a great team.  We enjoyed the company of several visitors that day, one of Bonnie’s daughters, Tiffany and her baby Hannah; Lauren, a young missionary, raising support to go to the mission field and a precious pastor’s wife, Laurie.  In between our cleaning out; we got to visit with all these beautiful women.  Can I say; one of the best day’s ever?

I was able to help my friend and I left refreshed by her company. I was thinking on the way home; “Why do I hesitate to ask for help; when God Himself said; “Two are better than one?”  God even gives a great reason to ask the help of another person.
“…because they have a good reward for their efforts.”

We’ve all seen the commercial, “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.” God says “pity the one who falls without another to lift him up.” You see, Bonnie always lifts me up.  God has blessed me with this friend of over forty years. Every time I am in her presence, speak with her over the phone or receive a text; I am “lifted up.”

There’s a song that says, “Friends are friends forever, if the Lord’s the Lord of them.  And a friend will not say never when the welcome never ends.”  The Spirit of the Lord dwells inside of Bonnie Perry.  She was in an horrible accident over twenty years ago, that could have easily claimed her life.  She survived literally being crushed, almost every major bone in her body broken; told she would never walk again.  Bless the Lord, she walks and sees with one eye; just as beautiful as ever.

Bonnie mentors many young women, speaks to church groups; witnesses and encourages those whom God gives her on a weekly basis.  Her enemy was not allowed to snuff out her life. She praises God on a daily basis.

I am forever grateful for this best friend forever.  Two truly are better than one; no matter if you’re cleaning, praying or doing the work of the Lord.

Prayer in Motion:

Jesus, thank You for precious friends who are forever friends. They have become Your hands and Your feet to me so many times.  I will never get over all the ways You have blessed me through them.  I pray You will bless them and bless them indeed! In Jesus Name.  Amen.
