Transient Shell

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.  Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.  For the trumpet will sound , the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:50-51

Observing the beautiful white shell; still glistening from the ocean’s tide, I noticed the shell’s surface was smooth as glass.   As I removed it from it’s habitat and held it up to the rays of the warm sunlight; I could almost see through this beautiful little translucent gem, from God’s enormous ocean.

I wondered how far the salty water had pulled this little treasure. This transient shell could have moved thousands of miles and from the depths of the ocean, into the hands of one of God’s children.

I do not know how many times you have moved while living in this  enormous world.  You may have moved half way across the planet and back, or maybe you’ve lived in one place, one house, one community for your whole life.  If so; you are a rare breed in this transient world.

I looked around my Sunday School women’s class, about twelve in number.  We are red and yellow; black and white. We have come from as far as Japan and as close as Charlotte, NC.  This Spring we have been sharing our cradle to current life testimonies.  It is so sweet to hear the powerful life stories of these beautiful women.  Most of them have moved many times to land in the “Refresh” Sunday School class.

No matter where life has pulled you:

YOU ARE A TRANSIENT SHELL

If you can walk or even if you are in a wheel chair’; you move around from place to place, near or far.  Some of you fly all over the world and some just go to work and back, to school and back, to church and back.  If you know Jesus; one day your soul will leave your shell; to be transformed from glory to Glory. Your transient soul will take flight, leaving the corruptible behind.  You will land in your heavenly home; provided by the nail scarred hands of your Savior.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord Jesus, thank You for every move You have led me to and through.  You are transforming me, preparing me now, from glorifying You on earth; to glorifying You in heaven, from corruptible to incorruptible.  I love You Jesus and I know that You alone will accomplish what concerns me until I come into Your Kingdom.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
