The Time is Near

Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.”  And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place.”  Behold I am coming quickly!  Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”  Revelation 22:6-7

As I did my last Bible Study Fellowship lesson in Revelation, my eyes fell upon verse eleven of chapter twenty two.  The angel of the Lord said to John at the end of verse…“he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”  Why? Because He is coming quickly and His reward is with Him, to give every one according to His work.

God tells us in 1 Peter 1:16  “Be holy, for I am holy.”  How do we walk in holiness, while we still live in our sinful flesh?  It must be possible or God would not have asked us to live a holy life, set apart, unto Him.

                                                    Ask God

  •      to search your heart and see if there be any wicked way in you.
  •      to help you confess and repent of any sin He would reveal.
  •      to daily create in you a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within you.

Did you know God has an agenda for you?  He has an appointed time for you to be born and an appointed time for you to die. He has a purpose and a plan for every single day in between.  It should be our life goal; to find out what His purpose and plan entails.  We must ask and it will be given to us.  His eyes are searching to and fro, looking for those whose hearts long to be completely His.

In the every beginning of verse eleven; John says, “He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still;”  Why would he write those words?  Because He is coming quickly.  Many people are determined to live their lives the way it pleases them. They are what God calls, “pleasers of men” rather than pleasers of God. Their theme song could be Frank Sinatra’s, “I did it my way.”

Would you live your life any differently if you really believed the time is near for Christ’s return?

Would you daily ask the Lord, “God, what’s on Your agenda for me today?”  Oh, dear reader, how I pray that you and I will be about our Father’s business. Upon waking every morning, ask Him, “Lord, how may I most glorify You this day?”  May we listen with the ear of a disciple, for the day of the Lord is drawing near.

Prayer in Motion:

“Oh Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the world Thy hands has made…Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee.  How great Thou art.  How great Thou art.”  This song is my prayer to You Jesus.   I am overwhelmed with Your great loving plans for me as I sing this song prayerfully.  I worship You in Spirit and in Truth.  I rejoice that my name is written in the Lamb’s book of life.  May I live my life holy and set apart unto You as the day draws near.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
