Welcome to The Rippy Place!
And … it’s for sale!
So, here is our little farmhouse “before” and it was a darling little blue house at the time when we moved in in April of 2018….
We walked inside and saw its potential and yet, we also saw that is was adorable and homey just as it was….with the 5 panel doors, cute little corner built-in in the kitchen, all the original sinks and countertops in the bath from when they installed it all in the 50’s. Linoleum floors, (the 50’s mauve and taupe swirly kind!), and plenty of windows that were also installed in 1951 and painted plum shut! Just a precious little jewel of a house sitting on 4.38 acres of land and all it needed was some TLC and some of Rip’s vision … and a whole lot of his muscle and talent!
Here are some photos of the exterior of the house and the property we’ve enjoyed for 5 years! (We did a rent to purchase before we purchased in March of 2021.)
One of the first places we renovated was the kitchen. Removed kitchen cabinets and added a custom made vent hood, (custom made means “Rip made!), 6 floating shelves, and a Rip-Made Island – he took a long cabinet and converted it into an island and added a floor outlet for the microwave and two outlets on each end of the island…with a phone charger, too. We pulled up the sheet linoleum and sanded/stained/sealed the original pine floors. And we replaced the windows with all new windows and added several several more…there are a total of 32 windows!
We painted the walls Sanctuary by Sherwin Williams and the trim throughout the house is painted Snowbound by Sherwin Williams. The kitchen cabinets are Greek Villa by Sherwin Williams. Countertop is a new quartz white with a slight grey marbling.
.
When you come into the house from the back door, it is a small hall filled with windows so all the natural light can come pouring in. Immediately to your right is a bathroom – light blue floor tiles, with a double sink vanity – (A dresser found at a local consignment store we converted into the vanity), and a large mirror trimmed and painted – Sanctuary on walls, Snowbound on trim. Vanity painted an Annie Sloan chalk paint and sealed with a matte poly. There is a tub and shower in this bathroom … all new with tiles to the ceiling. Off the bathroom is a bedroom – king size bed fits great in this room. It provides a lot of natural light and a closet with double rods.
As you come out of the back entry hallway and out of the bedroom, you can walk right through this duel purpose space – the laundry space that also has been trimmed out to hold another refrigerator. Plenty of storage in this space, too….and a cute little built-in bench to drop your purse or to sit and take off your boots!
Immediately to your left is the kitchen….but as you walk pass the island, you are in the kitchen dining space that is connected to the keeping room and the formal living room. This space is full of some of my favorite memories….we cut and placed every one of those brick pavers, filled in the grout, sealed them all…and Rip and Tucker installed all the tongue and groove ceiling after I white washed the boards.
As you come out of the keeping room and kitchen, the formal living room is to the left. It’s also where Rip and I have “Pizza Night Date Night” on Saturday nights….a hard days work always called for curling up on the couch with pizza and Rip! These walls are also painted Sanctuary with Snowbound trim.
Right off the formal living room is the dining room…the table has 2 more leaves and that space can comfortably seat 8-10 people.
Off the dining room there is a small hall with a couple of furniture pieces in it, but it connects the dining to a bedroom, and to the west side of the house.
This is another bedroom with a walk-in closet. Plenty of natural light and the view is seeing right onto the front porch. It also has a bathroom nearby.
As you make your way through, you come to this space – it can be used for so many purposes, but we use it for a home office and my workout space. But it can easily accommodate a sectional, sofa and chairs, could be set up as a home gym. There is a fire place and flat screen in this room. There are two 5-panel doors that lead to this space, and when they are both closed, it is a great “extension” to the Master bedroom as you will see in the next photos.
There are two mahogany swinging doors that can be locked that are the entrance to the Master bedroom. There lined roman shades on each door that we lower at night for privacy, but during the day if you want to leave them open with the shades lifted, all the light pouring into the house just carries right on through.
Here is the Master suite …
We’d love for you to come see the house and property but we are asking that only serious inquirers contact us. Rip can be reached at 601-951-0400 and the best way to reach him is by sending him a text for a faster reply. So here’s the info:
