“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and seethe deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.” 2 Chronicles 20:17
I can almost hear the trumpet sound as Jehoshaphat proclaimed to Judah; “You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem! Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.”
Our nation is in a battle over tomorrow’s election. In verse six of chapter twenty; Jehoshaphat said: “O LORD God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You?” The righteousness of God always prevails.
Verse twelve says, “O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”
God’s got you and He’s got this election. Do you think it’s taken Him by surprise? He is LORD of heaven and earth. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords
Verse seventeen is a pivotal verse that makes a strong proclamation. To whom is it addressed? It is addressed to all of Judah; as well as to you dear one. Let’s examine each important mandate.
(You) do not need to fight in this battle. Whatever your battle, dear sister in Christ; it is not yours to fight. Do you really believe God is in control and that He will accomplish what concerns you? The Lord is for you and not against you. He knows the beginning from the end. Pray and trust Him!
Position yourselves. A warrior always fights in her position. She never abandons her assigned post. Your Commander and Chief knows where you will be the most effective. He trusts you to fulfill that position. God is with you oh mighty warrior. Pray continually.
Stand still. It easier to listen; when you are still before the Lord. He is on your side. He is for you, no matter what happens. This battle belongs to Him. “After having done all, stand and see the salvation of the Lord.” Listen for the Lord’s voice.
See the salvation of the LORD. You can rest assure, God knows the beginning from the end. Our Omniscient God already knows who will be our next earthly commander and chief. To quote my friend Danny Benton; “God is still on His throne; where He’s been all along and He knows what’s going on.” Pray fervent, effectual prayers that avail much.
Do not fear or be dismayed. Why? For the Lord is with you. The One you pray to, is with you. Don’t stop praying.
Lord God; I trust You, no matter who wins the election. You will always be my King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I know where my ultimate allegiance lies. You will still be on Your throne tomorrow and the next day and the next. Jesus, I take great comfort in that truth. Amen
