“But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree.”Romans 11:17
Ah, the green of Spring! The season that smells of sweet newness. With great intent and purpose; our God designed the seasons, for the good of the earth and the good of His people.
The Master Gardener of the earth, chose green for His back drop for Spring. Beautiful shades of this breath taking color, cover God’s ground. As the sun begins to warm the earth, we see God’s glorious cloak of pale green; on the ground, in the bushes, at the base of brightly colored flowers and the tops of trees. By His design, God clothes His creation in this glorious color. It’s the color of growth, renewal and rebirth.
Just as the Lord God made garments of skin; to clothe Adam and Eve and cover their nakedness; He makes green leaves in all forms and fashions, to cover the dead trees, bushes and flowers. Our Creator God, causes Spring to follow winter; bringing resurrection to the earth’s covering.
Spring is a beautiful picture of redemption. The leaves come forth in due season, following winters’ harsh temperatures and frozen precipitation. It’s a picture of our resurrected Lord Jesus. His body was cold in the grave but He came back to life, and known as the Firstborn of the Dead, our Redeemer, our Savior. One day, when He calls us up from our grave; we will forever be with the Lord, never to die again.
All shades of green have varying implications. A richer green known as “olive green” represents peace and redemption. Our scripture today powerfully proclaims our position in Christ. We are as winter’s earth, dead without the “Son.” We need “new life.”
Oh sweet reader, “If any man be in Christ, He is a new creation. Old things are passed away, behold all things become new.” Before coming to Christ, you were “the wild olive shoot.” If you have a personal relationship with Jesus , you are now grafted into Him. You have been reborn; possessing abundant life on earth and the promise of eternal life in heaven. Just as Spring’s color of green; He makes all things new.
Prayer in Motion:
Lord, open my eyes to see Your great redemption story. Even Your earth tells of Your glory. May I know You in the power of Your resurrection. In Jesus Name. Amen
