Sometimes It Takes A Mountain

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

…”for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith the grain of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”  Matthew 17:20

As I sat in church listening to the Northside Baptist choir in Charlotte, NC,  I heard the words, “Sometimes it takes a mountain to trust You and believe.”  Then I heard; “Your love is so much stronger than whatever troubles me.”  I was already quite emotional from our Sunday School hour.  Each lady in my class is taking turns sharing her life’s testimony.

To this date, only two have shared; a young lady named Leah and another named Nicki.  Both of these young women have testified to the mountains they have overcome.  Can I say their mountains were of the Mount Everest kind?  The Lord has transformed their lives from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God.

The Refresh Women’s class has an unusual bond but hearing these testimonies has drawn us closer together.  You see, before we heard their testimonies, we only knew the person each of these girls became after Christ.  We had no idea of the journey on whichGod had taken them.  It helped to further knit our hearts together.

There is something about hearing a person’s life story that deepens your love for them.  Knowing what Christ has done to redeem and restore Leah and Nicki encouraged all of us to stay the course the Lord God has ordained for us. When you hear how your sisters in Christ overcame such incredulous hardship, it builds you up in your most holy faith. We will never be the same.

God says in His Word; “If any man be in Christ, He is a new creation; the old man has passed away, behold all things have become new.”  2 Corinthians 5:17  These women were made new when they prayed to receive Christ. However, the whole time these ladies were walking through horrific hurt, wounded-ness, abandonment and injustice, God was working on their behalf.  He knew one day their tests would be turned into a testimony for The Lord’s honor and glory. Testimonies are meant to encourage and equip other believers and testify of God’s grace and mercy to non-believers.

Through their real life trials and tribulations, they now have Mount Everest sized testimonies.  God says, “If I be lifted up; I will draw all men to myself.”  Leah and Nicki lifted up Christ.  On that Sunday morning, the ladies in the Refresh Sunday School class were all drawn to worship the God who gave these young women overwhelming victory; victory that overcomes the atrocities of this world.

Prayer In Motion:

Lord, bless the women who read this devotional.  I pray you will “bless them and bless them indeed.” I pray their latter days will be greater than the former. Protect them with Your righteous right hand both now and always. Help them to know You will never leave them nor forsake them.  I pray they will share the word of their testimonies with those whom You have given them.
