So What Is This Place?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

For my final post in our series “A Home That Whispers I Love You” I saw this mug at a local grocery store and just had to snap the picture! It made me think, there really is no place like home. Dorothy said it, we say it and I think we really do believe it. The question is,  do we make our homes like no other place on Earth? As I have read so many of the Blogs and Inspirations of my fellow writers on this site it is obvious to me that this is the desire in women’s hearts.  It can be a daunting task but as we have seen over the course of these 2 weeks, we are all in this together!

Our homes are to be a safe haven. The place we look most forward to going at the end of the day. It is the place where the people and things we love are waiting for us. It is not a place where we strive to compete with the “neighbors” and have the things they have or look the way they look. It is not a place where we look for inadequacies in others, ourselves, or in what we have.

So what is this place, this place that is like no place else? It is a place where there is peace, love, joy, and contentment. It is a place where you lay your head on your pillow at night knowing you are at peace with the God of the universe,  and find rest for your weary soul. It is the place that you wake up and meet your Father each morning and find He has new mercies waiting for you. ( Lamentations 3:23) It is a place of encouragement, direction and discipline. It is a place where you welcome friends, old and new. It is a place that people want to be and want to come back to.

It is a place that should look a little like the Heavenly Place our Father is preparing for us. In John 14:2-3, Jesus said this about That Place:

“There are many homes up there where my Father lives, and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready, then I will come and get you, so that you can always be with me where I am. If this weren’t so, I would tell you plainly.”

Dorothy said it, we say it, but more importantly, Jesus said it. There really is no place like Home.
