It's Time To Resurrect My Calling!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”  Romans 8:11

I told my friend Gail, “Getting volunteers; can be like pulling teeth or maybe trying to raise the dead.”  People are incredibly busy with family, work, friends, church, and it’s difficult to volunteer for anything or stop long enough to help even if it’s just for one time. But to volunteer on a regular basis is almost a “thing of the past.”

Here are a few questions we’d be wise to ask ourselves:

  • What does God want me to do?                                                                                                                                                        – Will I agree to fill a roll just because someone asked me?
  • Is it a God sized task, beyond my capabilities?                                                                                                                            – Will I obey what God has called me to do, above my own  fleshly  desires?

If you trust your fleshly feelings and do only what is comfortable, you will totally miss the exciting life God intends for you. He wants us to be led by His Holy  Spirit.

What Jesus calls us to do, He will equip us to do.

“Faithful is He that calls you, He will bring it to pass.”  1 Thessalonians 5:24

But … There’s a trust factor involved.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

God may want to resurrect a calling you chose to ignore. You have made all kinds of excuses.  You don’t have the time. You have too much on your plate. You are full of fear. And .. you may not have exercised this kind of faith in God, for  a very long time.

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence {certainty} of things not seen.”  Hebrews 11:1

We “gotta” put our foot in the water or the waters will not part.

Ask your Christian friends to pray.  Go forward in faith.  Hope in God. Listen for His still small voice.  Allow Him to resurrect that calling from so long ago.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord Jesus, I have promised to obey Your calling. I give You my fear, my time and my limitations.  Faithful are You who has called me and You will bring to pass what concerns me.  You are a promise keeper.  Resurrect my calling.  You will provide everything for which I have need.  That’s who You are.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
