Prayer for Wives

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Husbands, the Lord told you to “Love your wives as Christ loves the church and gave Himself up for her.”  Praying for your wife is your most important duty as a husband.  Your prayers provide a covering of grace and protection for her. Make this commitment before God, that you “will not sin against the Lord by failing to pray for your wife.”

Pray these scriptures over her:

Her Spirit:   Galatians 5:22-23 (Jesus, grow in her life Your abundant fruit: love, joy, peace, patience,                                                     kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control)

Her Mind:    Romans 12:2 (Pray that she will not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by                                                         renewing her mind.)

Her Eyes:     Hebrews 12:2  (Pray she will keep her eyes fixed  on You, Lord.

Her Ears:      Isaiah 30:21 (Pray she will be sensitive to Your  most gentle whisper of guidance)

Her Mouth:   Proverbs 31:26 (Open her mouth in godly wisdom and faithful instruction.)

Her Bones:   Proverbs 3:7-8 (Pray your wife will not be wise in her own eyes, but fear the Lord… so her bones will                                 be strong.)

Her Heart:     James 4:8 (Draw my wife close to Your heart, so that her heart will be filled with You alone.)

Her Arms:      Proverbs 31:17 (Make her arms strong for the tasks You have given her.)

Her Hands:     Psalm 18:34 (Train her hands for prayer warfare, subject to you as her Commander in Chief.)

Her Legs:       Hebrews 12:1 (Help her to lay aside every weight or sin that would trip her up, so she can                                                     run with patience the race that You have set before her…)

Her Feet:        Psalm 40:2  (Set her feet on a firm path)

Her Character:  Proverbs 31:10-31 (Strengthen her to do our  family only good all the days of her life.)

Men, your wives covet your prayers more than anything.  When a wife knows her husband takes time to lift her up to the Heavenly Father, it makes her feel most loved.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord, I pray You will remind me to pray earnestly and intently for the wife You have given to me.  I thank You for the precious treasure I have been given.  Help me to love and cherish her as long as we both shall live.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
