Only Believe

“Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise. And immediately the girl got up and began walking for she was twelve years of age…” Mark 5:41

The words, “Do not fear, only believe,” resonate deeply within those of us who have seen miraculous answers to prayer.  We serve a God who hears our desperate cries for divine intervention.

You humble yourself before the Lord. You fast. You cry rivers of tears.  You ask others to pray with you.  And yet sometimes; heaven’s gates seem to remain closed.  Nothing.  Nada.  Time seems frozen.  Will you choose to give in to feelings of hopelessness and helplessness?

The Psalmist in 120:1 implores us:  “In my distress I called to the LORD and He answered me.”  Psalm 121:1 tell us to “lift our eyes unto the hills,,,Verse 2 reminds us, “Our help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”

Jairus’s daughter was DEAD.  No life.  No breath. At twelve years of age.  Jesus words to Jairus;

                                                   “Do not fear, only believe.”

How many times have you believed God for the seemingly impossible?  People may have laughed at you; the way they laughed at Jesus, when he announced the child was not dead but sleeping.  He took her by the hand saying,

                                               “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”

Arise, she did.  Now fast forward with me to Matthew 28:6.  This same Jesus; who had lifted this little girl from her death bed;  would Himself rise from His grave.

                             “All things are possible to those who believe.” Mark 9:23

We serve a God who hears our desperate prayers.  We believe and He will accomplish all that concerns us.  Trust the One who is risen from the grave.  Believe that He can do the impossible.  Thank Him for all that He has done, is doing and will do!

  •     When times are hard:  Only believe.
  •     When circumstances are overwhelming:  Only believe.
  •     When family or friends forsake you:  Only believe.
  •     When sickness tries to overtake you or someone you love:          Only believe.
  •     When Satan tries to defeat you:  Only believe.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord Jesus, I believe.  Help Thou mine belief.  I’m desperate for You.  I believe You still perform miracles.  I believe You will restore my soul.  I believe You will accomplish what concerns me;  everyday, all day long, from this day forward. I won’t give up!  I believe because it is in the powerful, precious Name of Jesus I pray. Amen
