“And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”Luke 2:7
Our rooms were reserved; as we traveled on an 18 day, 5,000 mile road trip with Dr. Joe Brown and his wife Teresa. We prayed, laughed and made such sweet memories, as we rode in Dr. Joe’s SUV. The last leg of our trip home, we did not make reservations because we wanted to drive until we just couldn’t drive any more. We began to hear No room. No Room. NO ROOM! About midnight; on our last night of travel, we finally found a place to lay our weary heads. It was such a welcomed sight!
Pregnant Mary and her beloved Joseph; traveled to Bethlehem by way of a donkey. Her time had come to deliver baby Jesus. The Son of the Most High God was about to make His way into the world. Over and over Mary and Joseph heard No room, No Room, NO ROOM! Finally, an inn keeper allowed them to go into his stable. Christ’s life on earth began in such a lowly, humble way. The King of Kings became the Son of Man and had no place to lay His royal head. It makes me weep.
There’s an old hymn that declares: “There’s room at the cross for you. Though millions have come; there’s still room for one. Yes there’s room at the cross for you.” It’s not God’s will that any man should perish without Jesus. That’s why He came; to seek and to save that which was lost. We are lost and undone without Jesus in our hearts. Oh my dear reader; if you have not invited Him into your heart, I pray this will be the day of your salvation. His house is never full. His door is always open to those who knock. There’s always room for one more.
Prayer in Motion:
Lord Jesus, thank You for making room for me in Your house. I will never get over how You came for this prodigal. I will never get over Your amazing love and grace to save a sinner such as me. I love You Lord Jesus. In Your Name I pray. Amen
