National Day of Prayer

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Can you imagine how much better our day would be if we took the time to prayer with fellow prayer warriors and believers?  I just participated in the National Day of Prayer at my place of business along with a room full of coworkers and wow–can I just tell you that the Holy Spirit was alive and present!

As we prayed for our country, our administrators, our decision makers, our soldiers,  our families, our teachers, our law enforcement and so on, my arms had goosebumps as I thought about how powerful this country would be if we stopped to pray with people more often.

We often talk about starting our days off in prayer and that’s definitely a fabulous routine to have. In fact, there’s no better way to prepare for your day than spending time with the Lord first thing in the morning.  But imagine if we also set aside specific times with prayer partners to pray together during the day? This could be done over lunch, during break at work, over group text or even on the phone at night?  Can you imagine how on fire with the Lord this country would be and how we would all approach situations differently?

I lost my sweet grandmother in January. If there was ever anyone who epitomized the importance of prayer and faith in my life, it would be her. My favorite memory of her is seeing her on the bathroom floor in her soft, cotton nightgown on her frail knees praying. As the mother of six children and a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren, she would often joke that her knees stayed bruised from praying over all of us. There was hardly a conversation with her where she didn’t remind us about praying alongside her as she quoted Matthew 18:19:

Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

I pray that I can be that kind of example to my children. In a world where we turn to all kinds of other things for consolation and comfort, the Lord sits patiently with open arms waiting for us to come to Him in prayer and lay all of our burdens down at his feet.

Let’s start today by making every day a National Day of Prayer. Will you join me? What things do you need our Interior Inspirations Team to pray for in your life? We’d love to be one of your prayer warriors. Simply visit our prayer wall and let us know how we can provide intercessory prayer in your life.

Love and Blessings,

Sara
