Learning to Heal – Part 3 (Anxiety, Trust, Reconciliation, Heavy Heart)

sunset in country

These are the last 5 videos from Lysa’s sessions with Joel and Jim. And these are the ones that I wanted to end this 3-part blog with simply because of their content. But this Friday, I have one last thing I want to share with you – it’s what happened while painting baseboards one afternoon, to the following days with God in His Word, to one morning when I read some verses that not only brought it all together, but it had an even greater IMPACT on my life than any of the videos I’ve watched.

But when I told Rip and a couple of close friends what happened that morning while reading in my Bible, they were not surprised … not one little bit because they know how the Holy Spirit travels us through the pages of Scripture. How He counsels and instructs, and they know the Word of God is alive and active.  The Word of God is always at work in us, around us, before us, behind us, through us. It will do as it has been sent to do for our good, yes, but ultimately for the Father’s glory. And let me just tell you, that morning … He was glorified! I knew the words in my Bible were working the weightiness of His promises in me to teach me and to direct my beliefs. I could clearly see what He wanted me to believe. Today’s featured image is one that I chose because it seems to depict what spiritually happened that morning … it was as though a bright light burst right into my world! It was the Light of Truth!

But all the videos I’ve shared with you in “Learning to Heal” and “Learning to Heal – Part 2 – Narcissism and Codependency” and now “Learning to Heal – Part 3 – Anxiety, Trust, Reconciliation, Heavy Heart)” have all helped me to take some information that I had discovered and learned from my own counselor, Dr. Ron Mumbower, and apply it again more personally. To hear some things Ron has shared with me and then to re-hear some of the similar truths and applications has been like, well, it’s like the other night …

Rip and I were hanging plywood together and he was using the nail gun. It shot the nail right where he wanted it to go, BUT if it hit a knot in the wood grain or if it went a little too close to the bricks, it kept the nail from going fully into the wood. He’d then say, “Baby, get the hammer and finish hitting it in until it’s flush.”  THAT is what these videos have accomplished – driving in deeper some understanding. For example, Ron helped me to see how it would be best for me to “pull out” of something that wasn’t healthy for me and how to change the things I could, (namely, myself. My responses, choices and decisions.) A few of these videos touch on some of the same principles so it was like hitting the nail in even deeper so that I’m held together even stronger. So that I’m healed. So that I’m made healthy.

“He is before all things, and in him all things hold together,” Colossians 1:17.

I know these 5 videos will be sources of hope and help in redefining some courses for your own life. And the last video, if you or someone you know has never experienced infidelity through pornography or any form of sexual immorality, then it will sure help you know how to comfort someone who has or is going through such painful days right now.

I’m Lisa Rippy, a happily married woman to my wonderful Rip. We have 5 children and we live right outside of Madison, MS. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a love for all things “homey” from decorating, simplifying, remodeling, organizing and simply turning a house into a "Home Sweet Home." My passion is helping families live the life they long for in the interior of their hearts and homes. It all requires thought, planning and work that Rip and I both love to do! But if there is anything at all I can do to help you and your home life, please reach out to me. Nothing would thrill me more than to inspire YOUR heart and home!
