“And he dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven.  And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!”  Genesis 28:12

As I came into consciousness one morning; I could see the outline of a shadow looming over my head. This was not a vision or a dream. The top of a 6 foot ladder; shadowed over my five foot frame. I am priming my room, for a new coat of color. Literally falling into bed at 2:00 a.m, I had left the ladder positioned directly behind my bed, causing a shadow over the place I lay.

I was reminded of the ladder Jacob beheld in his dream.  There’s a stark difference between Jacob’s  ladder and my six foot tall one.  His ladder climbed all the way to heaven and held celestial beings; ascending and descending upon it.  Imagine with me; God’s angels coming and going, to do the work God sent them to do!  What a sight Jacob beheld, even if it was in a dream.

Speaking to Jacob from the top of the ladder was the LORD Himself.  When God speaks, He is either giving a command or issuing a prophetic promise.  This promise spoken from God’s mouth to Jacob’s ear, brought Jacob into the manifest presence of the Lord, as God promised to give Jacob and his offspring, the land upon which he was lying.

God spoke the same covenant promise to Jacob, He had spoken to his father Abraham.  He would multiply his offspring as the dust of the earth, and in Jacob, would his offspring and all the families of the earth be blessed. My friend, that includes you and me.  Hallelujah!  He promised He would be with him and keep him wherever he went and would not leave Him until He had done as He promised.

Jacob’s ladder led to the gates of heaven!  The Lord had visited him and he called that place awesome!  Jacob had experienced a visitation from the Lord his God.

Prayer in Motion:

Oh God, You have left me with Your precious Holy Spirit!  Would You manifest Yourself to me today; through a fresh anointing of Your Holy Spirit?  Speak to my heart Lord Jesus.  Speak that my soul may hear.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
