If You Seek, You Will Find

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

“You will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 4:29

There are so many promises in the Bible that God has made to us. And when you look closely, you see that so many of His promises are hinged on a condition:  “If you will, I will“. Today’s verse is one of those conditional promises. To paraphrase, The Lord is saying,

If you will search after Me with all your heart, with all your soul, I promise I will be found by you. If you will seek Me with the purest of motives, with every fiber of personal longing, and seek with a heart set to submit, I promise I will allow you to find Me.”

Why do we have this assurance? Why did God make such a promise to us? It’s to exhort us in a life of obedience and holiness. If we genuinely seek God, we will genuinely know God. And to know God….well, there is nothing greater! No higher honor, and no higher privilege! What a promise He has made to us in Deuteronomy 4:29, and what a perfect purpose for living!
