We are only 20 days away from a very glorious day, February 27, 2021, Samantha and Blake’s wedding day, and as I’m praying for them this morning, He is leading me to think of how it all started…
It was a beautiful day in August when my daughter and I were headed out of town to spend a mother/daughter weekend together. She had just moved home from Colorado in July, and I had missed her so much while she lived there for a little over a year, so it was time for some alone time with her and the Lord. Together.
Before we headed out, we stopped by a gas station to get some sodas and snacks. While I was walking up to the fountain drinks, I heard, “Hey. You remember me?” And it was Blake. Rip and I had just talked with him a few months earlier about some land we were looking to purchase. As soon as I saw who it was talking to me, I immediately introduced him to Samantha. He had just moved in to his new home right down the road and I asked him if we could see before we left to go out of town. I knew I may have been taking a small bold step, but I also knew what I had told Rip when we were looking at the land that day. I got back in the truck and said, “Now THAT’S the kind of guy I wish Samantha could meet.” So, naturally,…when she did?…I didn’t want to be in too much of a hurry to head down the road.
We had a great visit, the three of us.
Then, while we were on a little trip, some “visits” through Facebook just happened to happen 🙂 Things only happen as God plans, permits, provides and proclaims.
Then, as we were back home, Samantha and I were in the car together and she got a message on facebook from him about feeding his horses that evening. Needless to say, she went and mama did not! lol She actually got to his home before he did, and she came home and told me all about it. Not long after that, they had some ice cream together (their first date) at a friend’s ice cream business and that was when more fun and dates began for them.
So here we are, 3 years later, and they will be wed in only 20 days. Starting a life together and enjoying all the joys of holy matrimony! And during these past 3 years, it’s been GLORIOUS to see their relationship develop. To God be the GLORY…great things He has done and will continue doing as family and friends come together in 20 days to prayerfully participate in God’s purposes and plans as Blake and Samantha are married.
As I close this little blog, the song of God’s faithfulness that I’m singing in my heart is this… because they both know how deeply loved they are by family, friends and ultimately by their Father…who knows who they are, and what they need; who is perfect in all of His ways:
Oh, I’ve heard a thousand stories of what they think you’re like
But I’ve heard the tender whisper of love in the dead of night
And you tell me that you’re pleased
And that I’m never aloneYou’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I amOh, and I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide
But I know we’re all searching
For answers only you provide
‘Cause you know just what we need
Before we say a wordYou’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am‘Cause you are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to usYou are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to usOh, it’s love so undeniable
I, I can hardly speak
Peace so unexplainable
I, I can hardly thinkAs you call me deeper still
As you call me deeper still
As you call me deeper still
Into love, love, loveYou’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I amYou’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I amYou’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I amYou’re a Good, Good Father
(You are perfect in all of your ways)
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
(You are perfect in all of your ways)
It’s who I am, it’s who I am it’s who I am
Honestly, because He is perfect in all of His ways, that’s how He orchestrated it all. He knew when to bring their paths together and where. He knew when they were small children as members of the same church. He knew while they were growing up into young adults. He knew when He brought Samantha home to MS. He knew when He moved Blake to his home in Canton. And He knew when He led me and her to a gas station…that it was time. Time for those two to meet because ….
You’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are.
