Harvest Time

Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.  Luke 10:2

In the second year of our marriage; my husband and I lived in Rutherford County, NC.  We purchased a used mobile home and found a man and woman who rented us a space; right beside their home.  Margaret and Steve Mode became our life long friends.

My dad built us a house on some adjacent property Steve and Margaret owned.  In between our properties; Steve and I planted about an acre garden.  We hoed. We fertilized.  We plowed. We pulled weeds.   God watered and voila; this ground yielded sumptuous vegetables.

Next: Margaret and I broke beans; canned beans; shucked corn, froze corn; par-boiled tomatoes; canned tomatoes.  You get the idea.

The harvest couldn’t come until we did the work.

Steve and I prayed over the garden as we prepared the ground and planted the seeds.  It’s so exciting to see the seeds from the ground burst forth in green plant form.  However, the most exciting time occurs when the vegetables hang on the vine, the stalk or like potatoes, come right out of the soil.

Before the sower can reap the harvest, he must wait  until the fruit has matured.

Oh dear reader, don’t you see?  We must be about our Father’s business.  His return is imminent.  The signs of the times are everywhere.  The harvest is ready; but their are few laborers to bring in the harvest.  People are hungry to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 9:28 tells us:  “Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Ask the Lord to use you in his field that is white unto harvest.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord, please send out laborers into Your harvest.  I ask you to stir my own heart to be a laborer in my sphere of influence.  You nor I wish for any person to go into eternity without Christ.  Speak Lord, for your servant is listening.  I love You Lord Jesus!  It’s in Your precious Name I offer up this prayer.  Amen
