Great Incoming

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

“not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”  Hebrews 10:25

Recently; my pastor Dr. Joe Brown, gathered with other American pastors in New York city.  George Barna; a Christian and statistician, was the key note speaker.  He stated the following, startling facts.

  •      “Korea is the fastest growing Christian church in the world.
  •      “Daily, there are 25,000 coming to Christ in Korea.
  •      “Last year over two million Americans left the church.”
  •      “The fastest growing church in the U.S.A. is Islam.”
  •      “Fewer than 3% of millennials will be in church after  five years.”
  •      “As many as one third of people in the  United States worship other gods.”

There is no longer a significant group of people in America who name the Name of Christ.

The following percentages are based upon Barna’s studies of the American church.

1945                 60% of Americans were Christians

1946-1964       After WWII, 40% of baby boomers were Christians.

1965                   18% of our nation were Christ followers

1980                 Professing Christians were in the single digits

1990-                Fewer than 3%  will have an active relationship with Jesus Christ.

Dr. Brown stated:  “This is our new normal.”   Allow the above statistics to sink into your head.  Allow them to sink into your heart.

What happened to the American Church?  When did we start to take religious freedom for granted?  When did we begin to snub God on Sunday; neglecting His Sabbath, for our own good pleasure?  Look at the above percentages again.  The documented years will tell you when; but the greater question is why?

A current Christian song says; “It’s a slow fade, when you give your life away.”  Have we given our lives away to “other gods?”   Oh dear reader, will you mourn and weep for our spiraling downward .. “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”?

America is still the number one country to send missionaries; but is also now, the number one country for receiving missionaries. Can there be one more “great incoming” of God’s Holy Spirit? Can there be a future time; when the majority of the people return to the house of the Lord on His day?

Let’s pray for a great incoming of saints to “humble themselves and pray and seek the face of God as never before.”       (2 Chronicles 7:14) Pray there will be a great incoming of the lost to be saved and the saved to care about the lost.

Prayer in Motion:

I pray for a great incoming of saints to “humble themselves and pray and seek the face of God as never before.”  I pray there will be a great incoming of the lost to be saved before the return of Christ.  Stir Your church oh God.  Jesus, my eyes are on You. May I pray that our nation may once agin be “one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.”  In Jesus Name.  Amen
