I John 5:14  is a verse that proved true last week in the form of a very pleasant surprise.  It says, “And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him”

I got to wake up on Mother’s Day at the Beach!  I am sharing this post with you not to make you wish for beach trips, or to cause you to get down because God hasn’t answered your prayer yet. I am sharing this so you will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He hears, and He answers.

My mom. Not enough words to describe this lady. Amazing, generous, fun, lovely, creative, protective, loyal, hard working, saint. These are just a few that come to mind.

A few weeks prior to Mother’s Day week she notified me and my sisters that she had booked a condo at the the beach for all of us and we needed to nail down the dates etc…. We were shocked and thrilled. Honestly, none of us could afford a beach trip this year and we were fine with that. But then God does that thing He does, He amazes.

Little did my mom know that just a few days prior to her giving us the news, I had literally prayed, “God, I sure would like to go to the beach this year. You know we can’t go but if You could make a way, that would be great.” Short  prayer, plain and simple. I just let my Father know of my desire to go to the beach. I knew He would be the only way I could go and if I didn’t go that would be okay too.

Then I got my mom’s text about the trip. I was so excited! Excited about the trip but more excited that HE did it, HE answered. Don’t ever let satan tell you that God is not in the little stuff. Our God cares about everything that concerns us, even a beach trip.

Now, I am mindful that as you read this you may be thinking “well that is all fine and good but I am sick and have been for years, or my child is sick, we can’t pay our bills, I need a job, my husband needs a job, my child is in the far country, my parents are sick, and my best friend has cancer.”

Child of God, our God is able. He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all we can ask or imagine. ( Ephesians 3:20) He hears us and He answers, the timing and the way He answers is up to Him. According to our Scripture, God hears us when our requests please Him.

Sometimes I think we get too “wordy”. We think if we flower it up a bit that God will be more inclined to answer. God can not be manipulated. Just like our kids try to manipulate us and it doesn’t work , it won’t work with God either. We just have to be real, honest and humble while laying all our cares at His feet. Then we wait and we trust.

I can’t promise He will send you to the beach if you ask, but what I can most assuredly promise you is that He hears and He answers one way or the other.  Spend some time today pouring your heart out to Him. Let Him know what concerns you. Let Him know the  burdens of your heart. Lay them down at His feet, trust that He hears, and that He answers. Our Father really does know best.
