Giving Grace

One morning, I got up super early to prepare a meal ahead of time for a sweet friend that was to come by that evening.  To be fair, we have rescheduled several times, sometimes on my account and sometimes on hers.  She is a precious young Christian whom I love like a daughter.  Her well being and growth as a Christ follower matters to me deeply.

It occurred to me after the meal was made; to text her and say; “looking forward to seeing you this evening.”  She had forgotten about our appointment and I missed a big chunk of my quiet time.  My first thought was to pour on guilt through a text but my second thought was to give grace. She has a young child.  We just lost an hour of time because of daylight savings time.  The father of the child had other plans and couldn’t keep him.   The Bible says:

                                                 “To whom much is given, much is required.”

Secondly, “it’s not about me.”  I must decrease and Jesus must increase.  I am supposed to always be flexible.  Being flexible gives all the glory and honor to the One with whom we live and move and have our being.

There were many reasons my dear friend forgot.  I cannot begin to imagine how many times I’ve been given grace by the Lord Himself, as well as people on this earth.  We must give out from the well of grace that’s been poured out upon us. Otherwise; we spit in the face of God because we refuse to acknowledge the grace we’ve been given.

We must think past our own plans and extend “grace, grace, God’s grace”.

I would encourage you, dear reader to look for ways to pour out the same grace that’s been poured out upon you.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for pouring out unmerited grace on me every single morning.  You are such a good God.  I praise You and bless Your holy Name.  I worship You in Spirit and in truth. Please forgive me for all the times I have refused to pour out unmerited grace upon others.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
