Freedom in Christ #5

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Yesterday we talked about being broken and fragile. We also talked about restoration. Part of restoration is letting go and letting God take over. There is freedom in relinquishing control to Someone who can take your life and make it what it was intended to be from the beginning. Praise is also key to your healing, restoration and freedom. In today’s post I want you to focus on praise. There is a song by Sidewalk Prophets that I want you to take the time to listen to today. Here is a link to it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwYv6yMuPaA .  At the end of this post I want you to sit quietly for 5 minutes and just soak this in. Listen to the lyrics, see if you can make this your prayer today. Are you really willing and ready to be broken before Him. I have been and I will tell you, it is difficult but the results surpass anything you can imagine!

Until you get to the point that you want NOTHING more than God, a relationship with Him, to be in the center of His will, to follow Him even when it doesn’t make sense. Until HE is your EVERYTHING, until you get to the point that you praise HIM no matter what you feel like, then you really can’t understand Freedom in Christ.

Praise is the key to get from broken to freedom.

God inhabits the praises of His people and it is in praise and worship that you will find Him. It is in Him that Freedom gives you a fullness of joy that you can’t describe. I found this definition of Biblical joy and it is the best definition of joy I have ever heard:

It is a deep awareness of God’s presence and activity that results in an overflowing sense of well being.

I am speaking from experience, there is nothing that can give you this kind of joy but the Lord Jesus! Sometimes when I am having my time with the Lord I will read a particular Psalm that is most precious to me. I consider it my testimony written by God. It is a Psalm of deliverance and freedom. Don’t ever forget that deliverance equals freedom!  I am going to put that Psalm below. Read it and see if you can relate to it. Use it as a prayer back to the Lord. Ask Him to set you free today.

I Love the Lord

116 I love the Lord, because he has heard
    my voice and my pleas for mercy.
Because he inclined his ear to me,
    therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
The snares of death encompassed me;
    the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
    I suffered distress and anguish.
Then I called on the name of the Lord:
    “O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!”

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
    our God is merciful.
The Lord preserves the simple;
    when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return, O my soul, to your rest;
    for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

For you have delivered my soul from death,
    my eyes from tears,
    my feet from stumbling;
I will walk before the Lord
    in the land of the living.

10 I believed, even when[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][a] I spoke:
    “I am greatly afflicted”;
11 I said in my alarm,
    “All mankind are liars.”

12 What shall I render to the Lord
    for all his benefits to me?
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation
    and call on the name of the Lord,
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord
    in the presence of all his people.

15 Precious in the sight of the Lord
    is the death of his saints.
16 O Lord, I am your servant;
    I am your servant, the son of your maidservant.
    You have loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving
    and call on the name of the Lord.
18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
    in the presence of all his people,
19 in the courts of the house of the Lord,
    in your midst, O Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!

Tomorrow I will come back to our verse from Galatians 5:1. We will break it down and study what this freedom is and how to apply it to our lives. Looking forward to our time tomorrow. Choose freedom today!
