Even More

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

“So they hated him even more for his dreams and his words.”  Genesis 37:8

The Bible tells us Jacob loved his youngest son Joseph more than his other children.  Favoritism insights jealousy between siblings. Period. It will bring dissension quicker than anything.  Jacob outwardly displayed his preference for Joseph, by making him a coat of many colors. The hatred these brothers felt for their own flesh and blood, grew exponentially.

Dreamer boy Joseph; readily shared his prophetic dreams with his already jealous brothers.  Maybe not the greatest idea he’d ever had.  As the brothers observed their father preferring Joseph over them;  the “green eyed monster” stirred inside their hearts.  Scripture tells us they hated Joseph even more.

What is the even more in your life?  Is there someone who despises you or hates you even more than you imagined? Maybe it’s you, who is holding on to hatred and resentment. The even mores can get us so off balanced, consuming our thought life and effecting how we think of God, ourselves and others.   “Even more” responses, can be full of anger, bitterness or insane jealousy.

Anger turned to rage and Joseph’s brothers plotted to kill him.  Brother Judah convinced the other siblings, to sell him into slavery. These brothers decided to tell their father; his golden child had been eaten by a wild beast; so they killed a kid, ( baby goat) putting blood on his ripped apart tunic.  Even mores can cause us to hate, to lie, and to take what does not belong to us.

Precious one,  I don’t know the even mores in your life but remember this: No matter how much anger, bitterness or jealousy has come against you, Christ always loves you EVEN MORE.  His arms stretched over that cross; so you can overcome all the anger, bitterness and jealousy, the enemy could ever hurl at you. The Lord promised:

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Isaiah 54:17

Prayer in Motion:

Lord, please help me overcome any intense anger, bitterness or jealousy shown toward me.  May I always remember; You love me EVEN MORE.  In Jesus Name. Amen
