“They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.” Colossians 2:19
Real men use duct tape. For everything. I tried to snap a picture of my husband duct taping our grandkids kiddie pool over two small rips. (He would not have it.) I thought to myself; that is not going to work. Honestly, it held the water in; while our youngest grandson splashed around in the water. After three hours, not a drop leaked out.
A couple of years ago; while cleaning my friend’s house; her daughter showed me a web site with women’s dresses, made out of fashionista duct tape. It was a duct tape dress competition these women had entered. You should have seen these amazing dresses. They were jaw dropping gorgeous. So apparently; real women use duct tape too.
The following was written by Johnson and Johnson Company to explain the invention of duct tape.
The original use was to keep moisture out of the ammunition cases. Because it was waterproof, people referred to the tape as “Duck Tape.” Also, the tape was made using cotton duck – similar to what was used in their cloth medical tapes. Military personnel quickly discovered that the tape was very versatile and used it to fix their guns, jeeps, aircraft, etc. After the war, the tape was used in the booming housing industry to connect heating and air conditioning duct work together. | ![]() |
So what is the duct tape of Christianity? What holds us together individually and as the body of Christ? According to this day’s verses; we are held together by the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the one who died for His bride, the church. He is the only One who can restore and revive His church.
When disagreements come into the body of Christ; we are to be held together by the head of the church, Jesus Christ. Over the course of time; there have been thousands of church splits; causing many to fall away from attending church. The world looks at those divisions and thinks; “Why would I want to be part of that?” It wounds our testimony and more importantly hurts the cause of Christ.
Jesus longs to duct tape our splits, whether they be at church, in our family, our friends or neighbors.
Prayer in Motion:
Lord Jesus; I want to be duct tape in my church, in my family, with my friends and neighbors. May I exhibit the peace of God to all those in my sphere of influence. May Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I love You Lord. In Jesus Name. Amen
