My friend and client, Kim Turner, asked me to chalk paint her kitchen island. It was such a fun project and made a difference in her kitchen’s overall look. BUT, then she asked me to take on this little (ok this BIG) happy in her home! I loved it!
First I painted it two coats of Annie Sloan Paris Gray.
Then the fun began! I did a full wash with Annie Sloan Graphite – a highly diluted wash, too. With an old tattered brush from Lowes, I washed it all. It really deepened the Paris Gray to the tone she was looking for.
Then, with an even fainter wash, I used Annie Sloan Old White. Pulled the white wash through with another highly diluted ragged old brush.
After it was all applied, it was time for Annie Sloan Clear Wax and a DRY BRUSH of granite again…to make the finish have a very light dusty look of the graphite. Last, I sealed it all with another dry brush of light Annie Sloan Dark Wax.
To get the sliver leafing and gold leafing detail, I used Annie Sloan products again. The added detail to the handles and trim mold and pulls gave it just that little touch of “extra” she was looking for. (Her doors are open because it’s still curing.)
Looks great. I am addicted to chalk paint!
Me too! Once I attended a workshop, I knew I was hooked!
