Being the Woman Your Man Needs – The Heart of Her Husband

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

“The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will not lack anything good,” Proverbs 31:11

Being the woman your man needs are thoughts I am sharing with you that I’ve learned from God’s Word. Oh, I’ve done like all wives have at one time or another…flipped through a Family Circle, Woman’s Day or some other magazine sitting around in the dentist’s office and reading the articles titled, “How To Grab His Attention and Keep It”, or “Keep the Fire Alive in Your Marriage” or the classic title that always gets us reading, “How to Have a Lasting Marriage.”  And for the most part, the tips, suggestions and ideas all seem to resonate with a similar tone – do the best you can and hope for the best.

Well, if we truly long to be the woman that our man needs, we can look to the lady in Proverbs 31 for the best example. We often go to this Scripture to be inspired in being the wife and mother we long to be, but have you ever gone to these verses to discover how to be the WOMAN your man needs? There’s a big difference there.

Being the woman of his life is being the person who helps to keep his manhood strong and thriving, to keep his ego healthy and confident, and to help keep his adventurous dreams alive. For Rip and I, there have been date nights when I’d get in the car and tell him, “Tonight I just want to be your woman, not your wife.” It’s so funny but when I say that to him, his countenance changes…a soft smile comes to his face…his chest raises a little higher, and his shoulders grow broader. Why? Because he knows what I’m really saying to him is this – “Tonight isn’t about talking through our finances, talking about work, talking about the kids, our To-Do lists at home, or all the needs of the family. Tonight is about us, just being totally into us.”  Now, ladies, THAT is being a godly woman. Knowing when to push all things aside and be fully engaged with him – your man. His trust in you increases as you live such godliness. When you do this, you are meeting a real need in his life – to feel as though he still curls your toes, melts your heart, and is your forevermore Prince Charming. That alone builds trust.

“The heart of her husband trusts in her…”

When your man can honestly say, down in the depth of his heart, “I trust her,” that means you are more to him than just his wife, you are a capable and godly WOMAN. When you look at this verse in it’s original meaning, because it says, “the HEART of her husband,” those 5 words indicate that down in the depth of his soul, without reserve, without a smidgin’ of doubt, without a moment of hesitancy, he knows his woman is there for him – that makes her godly in his eyes. She’s not going to be perfect, but she is a woman who can be trusted.

Practical Tip: Read the book of Song of Solomon to see just how irresistible a godly woman is to a man.
