Be Ready, Take Action

“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench al the fiery darts of the wicked one.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;”  Ephesians 6:14-17

A policeman can put on his uniform; strap on his gun; but if he’s unwilling to go to the crime scene; what’s his purpose?  Just to look good?  A fireman can don his fire resistant clothes, get in his fire truck and go to the fire, but if he’s unwilling to climb the ladder, pick up the water hose and go into the flame; then why did he even bother to put on those fire resistant clothes?

In the same way, we must be willing to step out in faith. ready to do the work, to which God has called us. We must believe that “Faithful is He who has called us;  He will bring it to pass.” If He’s called you to it, He will provide a way for you to accomplish this seemingly impossible task.

                                                                              BE READY!

As I was reading from Ephesians 6; I saw something I’d never before noticed .  There’s an important difference between verses 14-15 and 16-17.  In verses 14-15, the soldier is to stand dressed in his armor; his girdle of truth, his breastplate of righteousness and his feet clad with the gospel of peace.  He’s fully dressed and prepared for battle; intentionally waiting for his enemy.

                                                                            TAKE ACTION!

In verses 16-17; there’s action involved. The soldier must intentionally pick up the weapons provided for him.  He must take up the shield of faith.  It’s the only way to quench those fiery darts trying to distract him.  If he fails to take up his shield of faith; he will cower to his enemy and will be overtaken.

He also must take up the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.  With these two pieces of the armor; the soldier can war valiantly against his assailant. The helmet protects the head, and guards the thoughts that try to assail him. The Sword which is the Word of God can be wielded, slaying his opponent.  Meditate and memorize the Word of God, so that you can immobilize your enemy.

Be ready.  Put on your armor and take up your weapons.  God created this armor with you in mind.  He will quench those sure fire darts meant to lay you low. He’s such an awesome God!

Prayer in Motion:

Lord Jesus; may I be ready for my enemy at all times.  Help me to fight valiantly, the good fight.  May no weapon formed against me prosper.  I love You Lord.  I trust You.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
