When Lisa and I first walked into this particular rental renovation project, Lisa called the owner and apologized to them for how their property had been “disrespected.” She wasn’t the one who needed to apologize, but she hated it for the property owners to be left with such a devastated house. It was pretty bad. The worst we had seen in a long time, and Lisa didn’t want to take this one on because of the condition it was in, but I helped her see past the “needs” and see only one thing – another huge work opportunity!
There was destruction in every room and some of it we chose not to show in video…we didn’t start capturing footage on this project until days of Lisa doing some deep cleaning with Clorox and some painting had gotten done. We found out that there had been some domestic violence in the house and that explained a lot of what we saw all throughout the rooms.
But we got busy! First, we prayed. I’ll be honest with you, man, we pray before and during all our projects because we know that we can’t get it all done,in the time frame that we often need to work in without Christ’s strength and wisdom. Then, we turned on KLOVE radio and got going. After a couple of days there of prep-work, then we started bringing our newest team additions – Micah Thomas and Catherine Falvey.
These two are just what we needed – Lisa has known Micah since he was a baby; she and his mom raised their kids together. And I just like working with him because the brother’s got some guns! Strong as a mule! And laid back with a strong work ethic … that’s a win-win!
Catherine is our pastor’s daughter, Ronnie Falvey at FBC Madison, and she reached out to Lisa when she saw a post on Facebook. She is a newly engaged young lady and comes to work full of energy and a great attitude. Based on what I see, she is the perfect fit for Lisa….she’s happy, positive and willing to get dirty.
As we finish this renovation, we will be sharing the final result…but if you have rental properties that need some work, repairs, updating, etc. just give us a shout at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get it done!
